Château d'Amboise:
The château was begun in the eleventh century, when Fulk Nerra, Count of Anjou, rebuilt the existing stronghold on the site. In 1434, it was seized by Charles VII, after its
owner, Louis d'Amboise, was convicted of plotting against Louis XI and executed. Once in royal hands, the château became a favorite of French kings and Charles rebuild it
extensively, beginning in 1492.
