Two of the most magnificent cathedrals in France are Cathédrale Notre-Dame in Chartres and Cathédrale Saint-Étienne in Bourge.

The Château d'Amboise, much loved by the Kings of France, overlooks the scenic town of Amboise.A short distance from the château stands 'Le Clos Lucé', a manor house, once the home of Leonardo da Vinci and now housing a museum dedicated to da Vinci and his machines.

Between Anjou, Touraine and Poitou lies the Abbaye de Fontevraud, the largest abbey complex in France.

Loches

Ideally located on the banks of the Indre and opposite the "Logis Royal", the PV-Holidays resort at Loches occupies an outstanding site: the redeveloped old flour mills, to which small modern buildings respectful of the surrounding heritage have been added. It offers very comfortable apartments with a loggia or small garden, except for the mill apartments.

On-site activities include a swimming pool with terrace-solarium, while the medieval town of Loches is just a 5-minute walk away. Further afield lie the chateaux de Loire, including Chambourg, Tours, and Chenonceau with activities such as golf, tennis, gliding and horse riding within close proximity.

Boating on the Canal Latéral à la Loire

This beautiful canal follows the course of the Loire, cutting through maize-filled fields and drifting past grazing Charolais cattle and waving sunflowers on its way north from Digoin.

The hilltop town of Sancerre is well worth a visit; here you can taste the famous dry white wine, and take in the far-reaching views over the Loire valley. Along the canal's course, you'll encounter several huge stone aqueducts, often bedecked with cascades of flowers.

Operating from Centre Loire bases at Briare and Chatillon sur Loire.
