Fontainebleau Palace is situated in the Ile-de-France region of France.

A hunting lodge used by French sovereigns since the Middle Ages, enlarged and embellished in the 16th century by Francois I, and further enlarged by Henri IV, Louis XV and Louis XVI the Palace of Fonteinbleau evolved to the enormous château we see today.
