Languedoc-Roussillon

When thinking of French wine regions, the Languedoc does not spring readily to mind. It is, however, the most prolific wine producing region of France including the Minervois, Corbières, Côtes de Roussillon and Coteaux du Languedoc appellations .

From the plains with countryside and sandy coastal beaches, to the more rugged Upper Languedoc meeting the Pyrenees mountains there is plenty for all tastes here.

The huge restaurant-lined Place de la Comédie is the hub of Montpellier's historic centre and is in great contrast to the narrow streets and alleyways of the old city.

The town of Nîmes has well preserved Roman buildings, including an amphitheatre, built around AD100 and still used today for sporting and cultural events. This thriving town has a restful and relaxing air.

Carcassonne is a town of 2 parts, The Ville Basse [Lower Town] and La Cité, a fortified hilltop city that draws many thousands of visitors to within its walls; so beautifully restored that you can well imagine life there in its 12 century heyday.
