Lyon Cathedral

Cathédrale St-Jean Baptiste

Construction was begun in 1180 over the ruins of a 6th century church and was completed some 3 centuries later.

Built in Romanesque and Gothic styles, the unique feature of this cathedral is its 14th century astronomical clock that at noon, 2, 3 and 4 o/clock chimes a hymn as automaton angels herald the Annunciation.
