The region of Rhône Alpes has everything from snow covered mountains to sparkling lakes, lavender fields and vineyards.

As the world’s largest holiday skiing area in France, the Rhône Alpes cater for a diversity of winter sports in such resorts as Alpe d'Huez , Avoriaz, Val d'Isère and La Tania to name just a few of the numerous first class locations within the region.

Lyon is the region capital and also France's second city, noted for its high class shopping and lively night-life. For the tourist there are many architectural gems especially medieval and Renaissance houses set in the cobbled streets of the old town and notably, the cathedrals Saint Jean Baptiste and Fourviére Basilica

The town of Annecy is both picturesque and charming.A great place to relax strolling along its colonnaded streets and by the Thiou canal with its flower bedecked bridges.

The thermal waters of Aix-les-Bains were appreciated by the Romans and at the Thermes Nationaux are still enjoyed by large numbers of visitors today.

With some 6 National Parks in the region, the landscape is both varied and stunning. An area to be enjoyed by walkers, horse-riders, climbers and by ornothologists for whom there is the additional Parc des Oiseaux bird sanctuary at Villefranche-sur-Saone.
